2020 Washington Conference Financial Management Training Program

 
         

NAHRO Professional Development will offer the one day Finanical Management Training Program: Staff Development on Tuesday, March 31,  at the Grand Hyatt Washington Hotel, 8:00am - 5:30pm. 

Please note: While the Financial Management Training Program will be held during the Washington Conference at the conference hotel, these are two separate events and must be registered for separately.  Please note the program will take place during NAHRO's Capitol Hill Day.    

The Financial Management Training Program is a first of its kind educational series designed by housing authority industry professionals to create a qualified talent pool of finance professionals today and for the future. Developed through a public-private partnership between Aprio,  Gans, Gans & Associates and NAHRO, the program will equip financial professionals with the knowledge of PHA accounting and financial management techniques, tools and data management principles, as well as the standards required to effectively manage HUD financial reporting.  Delivered through a blended model of face-to-face classroom sessions and e-learning, this program will provide CEOs, COOs, CFOs, CIOs, Directors of Finance, Real Estate Development Staff, Human Services Staff, Controllers and Senior Accountants in the PHA industry with the necessary training to effectively lead, organize, direct and manage PHA finance and administrative staff, operations and accounting systems, processes and regulatory compliance.  The curriculum was developed in partnership with the John Dailey Florida Institute of Government at the University of South Florida, the CFO Financial Management Program is a year-long certificate program that includes 32 hours of face-to-face classroom training and 6 hours of online e-learning.

Description of Session: The course will cover internal controls, standard operating procedures, compliance toolkit, development of staff, and how to be an effective partner with internal leadership.  By the end of the course, the housing professionals will gain knowledge about developing staff and the importance of staff development within the Housing industry.
