About the NAHRO Access Alliance
The NAHRO Access Alliance was formed to provide NAHRO housing and community
development member agencies with access to the resources, information,
technical assistance, and capital needed to create the viable, affordable
and sustainable communities of tomorrow. The NAHRO Access Alliance is
comprised of:
National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Agencies (NAHRO)
NAHRO, established in 1933, is a Washington, DC-based membership organization
of more than 8,500 housing and community development agencies, professionals,
and policy makers across the United States. The members have a common
mission to create affordable housing and safe, viable communities that
enhance the quality of life for all Americans, especially those of low-
and moderate-income. NAHRO membership administers more than 3 million
housing units for 7.6 million people.
Bank of America
Bank of America has long been a pioneer in the profitable, business-driven
expansion of investment, job creation, and economic opportunities in underserved
markets. Through its unmatched lending and investing capabilities, and
collaboration with nonprofits, government agencies and the private-sector,
Bank of America Community Development Banking revitalizes neighborhoods
that might otherwise fall further into decline.
Currently in the third year of its unprecedented 10-year, $350 billion
commitment to community development banking, Bank of America has loaned
or invested more than $40 billion since January 1999 to make the dream
of an affordable home a reality for low- and moderate-income and minority
borrowers throughout its coast-to-coast franchise.
The Enterprise Foundation
The Enterprise Foundation rebuilds communities. Working with partners
and a national network of more than 1,900 nonprofit organizations in 700
locations, Enterprise provides low-income people with affordable homes,
safer streets and access to jobs and childcare. Based in Columbia, MD,
Enterprise has raised and committed more than $3.5 billion in equity,
loans and grants to help build or renovate more than 120,000 homes. Launched
by Jim and Patty Rouse in 1982, The Enterprise Foundation is building
America, one community at a time.
Enterprise Social Investment Corporation (ESIC)
The Enterprise Social Investment Corporation (ESIC) is a subsidiary of
the Enterprise Foundation that works with partners to finance, develop
and acquire affordable housing and other community development initiatives
in undeserved neighborhoods across the country. ESIC undertakes a variety
of initiatives in fulfillment of its mission.
Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC)
Headquartered in New York City, LISC is the nation's largest community-building
organization. Since 1980, LISC has raised more than $4 billion from largely
private-sector sources for investment in community development initiatives.
This investment has leveraged another $6 billion in additional investment,
helping more than 2,200 community nonprofits develop 110,000 quality homes,
build 14 million square feet of commercial and industrial space, and create
40,000 jobs. Through 38 local urban program offices and in 68 rural communities,
LISC is helping neighbors build communities.
National Equity Fund Inc. (NEF)
LISC's affiliate, NEF, is the nation's largest nonprofit syndicator of
low-income housing tax credits. In collaboration with community-focused
project sponsors and institutional investors, NEF has invested more than
$3 billion in equity to help fund the development of 50,000 affordable
homes nationwide.
