August Advocacy, Week 1: Wednesday Twitterstorm

Today, at 2:00 p.m. EDT, hundreds of housing advocates across the country will be tweeting about the importance of affordable housing using the hashtag: #OurHomesOurVoices. The repeated use of this hashtag by many Twitter users at the same time will generate a Twitter Storm, ensuring that the Our Homes Our Voices campaign is a trending topic and is displayed to all Twitter users. This is a proven advocacy tool that will amplify our messaging in order to more easily reach members of Congress.

This is a quick and easy way to get involved in NAHRO’s August Advocacy. To participate, simply include #OurHomesOurVoices in a tweet that calls for increased investments in affordable housing, and you will be connected to the nationwide campaign. Here are some sample tweets that you can use:

Congress needs to hear from us: everyone deserves an affordable place to live! #OurHomesOurVoices

At the #OurHomesOurVoices Week of Action, we demand that housing is a right, not a privilege.
