HUD IG’s Office Finds Areas of Improvement to HUD’s SEMAP System:

Summary:  HUD’s Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) audited the Department’s controls over the Section Eight Management Assessment Program (SEMAP).   HUD IG’s report titled, “The Section Eight Management Assessment Program Lacked Adequate Controls To Accomplish Its Objective” (Audit Report No. 2012-AT-0001) concluded that HUD had not developed adequate controls to ensure that SEMAP would be effective in identifying underperforming PHAs administering Section 8 voucher programs.

FMR. The new bedroom ratios are constructed using 2006–2010 5-year American Community Survey (ACS) data. The methodology for calculating the bedroom ratios is very similar to the method used when the bedroom ratios were based on 2000

PIH 2012-33: Extension of Notice PIH 2010-51 (HA), Over Subsidization in the Housing Choice Voucher Program

Summary:  HUD's Notice reinstates Notice PIH 2010-51, which expired on December 31, 2011.  Procedures contained within PIH Notice 2010-51 remain in effect until amended, superseded or rescinded by subsequent HUD directive or guidance.

Summary:  HUD’s notice updates the list of federally mandated exclusions last published on April 20, 2001 (66 FR20318).  HUD's notice updates the list of federally mandated exclusions last published on April 20, 2001 (66 FR20318) to include the following:

(1) Assistance from the School Lunch Act and the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 (42 U.S.C. 1771);

(2) payments from the Seneca Nation Settlement Act of 1990 (25 U.S.C. 1774f);

Notice of Proposed Information Collection for Public Comment: HCV Program Admin. Fee Study Data Collectionfor National Study

Summary:  HUD’s proposed information collection requirement described  below will be submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review, as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act. The Department is soliciting public comments on the subject proposal.

HUD’s request is for the clearance of on-site and telephone data collection from public housing agencies (PHAs) in support of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program Administrative Fee Study.

HUD Notice of Regulatory Waiver Requests Granted for the First Quarter of Calendar Year 2012

Summary:  Under existing law, HUD is required to publish quarterly Federal Register notices of all regulatory waivers that HUD has approved. HUD’s notice contains a list of regulatory waivers granted by HUD during the period beginning on January 1, 2012, and ending on March 31, 2012.

Summary:  HUD's guidance to public housing agencies (PHAs) describes actions PHAs may take to assist persons with disabilities transitioning from institutions and persons at serious risk of institutionalization access PHA-assisted housing. This guidance supplements prior guidance in PIH Notice 2005-5 on community-based alternatives for individuals with disabilities.
