Strategic Planning, Agency Development, and Policy for Commissioners

This program provides a systematic way for commissioners to master the skills and knowledge needed for excellent leadership of housing and redevelopment authorities. This course provides an understanding of strategy, including planning, strategic initiatives, management, and leadership. Participants will explore the relationship between strategy and the agency's mission and how strategic plans fit with HUD's planning expectations. This course also deals with the development of agency capacity so it can achieve its goals in the context of the strategic plan. The instructor will lead a discussion on the development and implementation of policies consistent with agency objectives and goals, budget, and the means by which the agency pursues its mission.

The PHM, SHM and SPHM exam retakes will be offered immediately following the closing general session on Sunday, July 27 from 12:30-3:00 p.m.
