Course Description:
Public Housing and Redevelopment Agencies are experiencing ever reducing subsidy from HUD and are being forced to come up with new strategies designed to replace lost subsidy while simultaneously creating new funding streams.
NAHRO has been advocating for public and affordable housing along with providing state-of-the-art professional development to its members for more than seven decades. NAHRO’s Professional Development Systems (NPDS) announces today its new Introduction to Grants Writing for Public Housing Agencies e-learning. This online and interactive session will focus on how to get started from the perspective of identifying potential funding sources and then how to begin the process of putting a grant together.
Learning outcomes:
- Understanding the importance of research and the all-important Executive Summary
- Learn the six basic steps to obtaining grant funding; leveraging assets; appealing to foundations; how to write the statement of need; why uniqueness is important and much more!
Instructor Bio:
Eugene Rudder has been involved in housing and community development for more than 15 years working as a community organizer in Washington, DC’s Columbia Heights neighborhood for more than five years and working as first a consultant to housing authorities and then as a member of a housing authority staff for ten years. His involvement with NAHRO began more than ten years ago and he has had the honor and pleasure of serving as a member of NAHRO’s National Professional Development Committee for three years simultaneously serving as first a member of the QA Sub-Committee and then as its chair. He also had the privilege of serving on the Housing Operations Assessment Board. Currently, Eugene serves as marketing consultant to NAHRO working primarily on strengthening our market position regarding On-Site trainings.
