Housing America Month: 2020 Celebrations

Although 2020 brought the added challenge of COVID-19, we still found ways to celebrate affordable housing. Below, find an archive of the creative ways that agencies celebrated Housing America Month this year.

Springfield Housing Authority

Springfield Housing Authority produced a radio ad to inform their community about Housing America Month. They also included a spotlight in their Fall 2020 newsletter.

Township of North Bergen Housing Authority

North Bergen Housing Authority hosted an educational event to get their senior residents outside. A local beekeeper taught them about honey bees – and gave out some honey samples! (Link to local news coverage)

Housing Authority of the City of Elizabeth

Elizabeth Housing Authority created their own Housing America Month graphic and shared it on social media to promote it among local stakeholders.

Fargo Housing and Redevelopment Authority

Fargo Housing delivered art supplies, gift certificates, and monetary awards to 7 kids who participated in the “What Home Means to Me” poster contest.

Housing Authority of the City of Laurel

Laurel Housing Authority hosted a “Booktacular” event, which included a costume and door decoration contest, free treats and books for youth, and refreshments.

Housing Authority of the City of Goldsboro

Goldsboro Housing Authority hosted a “Trunk or Treat” mobile parade for local youth. They shared a fun video to capture the event and promote Housing America Month.

South Carolina Regional Housing Authority no.3

The South Carolina Regional Housing Authority no.3 celebrated Housing America Month in style! Thanks to the dedication of staff, residents can enjoy new playground equipment, repainted Head Start centers, virtual learning hot spots, and more.

City of Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority

Roanoke RHA shared a video interview with David Bustamante, their Executive Director. He spoke about the importance of affordable housing in the Roanoke community.

Edinburg Housing Authority

Edinburg Housing Authority printed out the Housing America Month logo for a celebration with residents that included ice cream, a giveaway raffle, and masks.

San Antonio Housing Authority

San Antonio Housing Authority shared images on social media to re-commit to providing quality, affordable housing to the 57,000 people who use their housing programs.

Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara

During Housing America Month, the Santa Barbara Housing Authority hosts their own “Housing Santa Barbara Days,” which include 5 days of free workshops open to all residents.

Phoenix Housing Department

For Housing America Month, the Phoenix Housing Department shared social media updates about their EnVision Center at Aeroterra and their 78-unit all-new Monroe Gardens development.
