Our team focuses specifically upon three areas of interest to NAHRO members: Congressional Relations, Public Affairs and Field Operations. We are the association’s eyes, ears and voice on Capitol Hill. We advocate for NAHRO legislative priorities, we educate and inform members of Congress and their staff on issues that matter to you and we inform NAHRO members about legislation and congressional decision-making that will impact your mission at the local level. Our department helps build legislative coalitions among traditional and non-traditional partners and we raise public awareness regarding the work of our members and the importance of housing and community development funding with the media and among the general public. We also staff the NAHRO’s Housing America Campaign as well and the NAHRO International Committee. Additionally, we manage and staff NAHRO’s legislative grassroots communications network including NAHRO’s Legislative Network and the Congressional District Contacts (CDCs), our nation-wide group of volunteers. Finally, our Department manages the publication of NAHRO’s bimonthly magazine, the Journal of Housing and Community Development, our bi-weekly newsletter, the NAHRO Monitor, as well as other useful and informative resources.
