Registration Day I: 8:00 a.m. | Program Day I: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. | Day II: 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
This dynamic session focuses on mixed-finance redevelopment by public housing authorities. Faculty will discuss key elements of the Low-income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program including recent reforms under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 (ARRA) and the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 (HERA), other development financing sources (e.g., HOME, CDBG, FHLB, NSP), operating subsidies (e.g., project-based vouchers and public housing operating subsidy), deal structuring and negotiating tips, various development models and ownership structures, PHA affiliate/instrumentality issues, and mixed-finance redevelopment considerations. Instructors will also discuss key strategies for integrating the development and operational phases of a mixed-finance development, including LIHTC compliance.
This seminar discusses helpful practices and potential pitfalls in the development process and concludes with a mock negotiation of a letter of intent between a public housing authority and a tax credit equity investor that will serve to reinforce concepts discussed throughout the day and leave attendees with a solid working knowledge of how to move their agencies forward in achieving affordable housing development goals. Attendees are assumed to have a basic understanding of affordable housing development. (1.2 CEUs) CLICK HERE to register for this seminar.
MARKETING, IMAGE-BUILDING, AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
July 27-28
Registration Day I: 8:00 a.m. | Program Day I: 8:30 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. | Day II: 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
During this course, participants will discover that by understanding and adhering to the three elements of MICE—marketing, image-building, and community engagement—and how they are integrated, their housing and/or community development agency can gain a competitive advantage, be more successful at relationship marketing, obtain a better understanding of the value of their agency’s products and services in the community, and much more. Through discussion questions and case studies, participants will identify at least one key MICE issue that their organization is confronting. At the conclusion of the seminar, they will identify the “take away” solutions that will be valuable in resolving that issue. Participants will also leave the seminar with a toolkit of ideas and approaches to better address their unique MICE challenges. (1.2 CEUs) CLICK HERE to register for this seminar.
