Contact: Liz Hennessy, 202-289-3500 ext. 280 or lhennessy@nahro.org

News Advisory:

The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) will release a nationwide study of the Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD's) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher funding formula on Oct. 11 at its National Conference and Exhibition in Baltimore. NAHRO leadership and policy analysts will be available to media during a luncheon at 12:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 11 at the Hyatt Regency. This is the first complete analysis that fully takes into account HUD's administration of the Section 8 budget-based renewals and the effect this approach has had on housing authorities and low-income families across the country in FY 2004.

Analysts will also be available at the Monday lunch to discuss other current housing issues, including major changes concerning future funding for public housing authority operations that will go into effect in 2007.

Other conference events are also open to the media, including sessions on various housing issues, speeches by Sen. Paul Sarbanes, election analyst Larry Sabato and Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley, and a tour of Baltimore development projects.
