Press RoomExecutive Director of McDonough County Housing Authority to Develop National Housing Community Development Policy
WASHINGTON, Nov. 2-- Bill Jacobs, Executive Director of the Housing Authority of McDonough County, was recently elected as Vice President-Professional Development for the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO). Jacobs will also serve on NAHRO's Board of Governors during his two-year term. As national Vice President for Professional Development, Jacobs will lead the committee whose focus is the training and professional advancement of NAHRO members. The committee's top priority is to provide educational and credentialing programs and examinations, as well as ensuring the availability of quality, affordable, and professional educational products and services in a variety of mediums for the association's membership and the housing/community development industry at-large. Jacobs has served as Executive Director of the McDonough County Housing Authority for ten years, and has been a NAHRO member for five years. "The programs and policies we strive to bring to the attention of the nation help millions of people," said NAHRO President Donald Cameron. "Because of his first-hand knowledge and experience, Mr. Jacobs will be invaluable to these efforts." The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, established in 1933, is the nation's oldest professional membership organization that advocates for affordable housing and strong, viable communities for all Americans, particularly those with low and moderate incomes. The association represents more than 21,000 housing and community development organizations and officials. NAHRO members predominantly administer Public Housing, Section 8, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), and HOME programs. Member agencies provide housing for more than 7.5 million low-income people; bring more than $1.2 billion CDBG and HOME funding to their communities; and serve more than 152 million individuals. |
