Walla Walla Housing Authority Executive Director Elected Senior Vice President of NAHRO

Contact: Mary Barron, 202-289-3500 ext. 280

WASHINGTON, Nov. 2-- Renée Rooker, Executive Director of the Walla Walla Housing Authority, has assumed a leadership position with the nation's oldest housing and community development association. Rooker was elected Senior Vice President of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) in Chicago on October 9, and will serve in that position for the next two years.

Rooker has led the Walla Walla, Washington Housing Authority as its Executive Director since 1991. During her tenure, the organization has received local and national recognition for housing and economic development programs.

Rooker says her main goals throughout her two-year term will be to support and assist NAHRO President Donald Cameron in achieving his agenda, as well as to meet as many of the NAHRO Associates as possible to listen to their concerns and suggestions regarding the industry and its future.

Rooker has been a NAHRO member for more than 20 years, and in that time has filled a variety of leadership roles on the National & Regional levels.

The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, established in 1933, is a membership organization of 21,000 housing and community development agencies and professionals throughout the United States whose mission is to create affordable housing and safe, viable communities that enhance the quality of life for all Americans, especially those of low- and moderate-income. NAHRO's membership administers more than 3 million housing units for 7.6 million people.
