Helping Elderly Residents Age in Place - Part II: Assisted Living
in Public Housing
Local housing agencies are finding that current residents are aging-in-place
and new residents are coming to them older and frailer. As the need
for elderly services intensifies, many LHAs are tuning to assisted living
models as a vehicle to enable seniors to age-in-place and avoid transfers
to more costly housing/service options.
This AudioShort will present a brief overview and the ongoing challenges
of running a publicly subsidized assisted living program. Panel members
will discuss program implementation, financial needs, services that
can be provided, and the political and public support needed to ensure
the programs success.
