The Millennial Housing Commission's Report --
A Vision for Our Nations' Housing
In December 2000, Congress established the bipartisan Millennial Housing Commission
(MHC). The Commission was charted with examining, analyzing and exploring: (1)
the importance of affordable housing to the infrastructure of the US; (2) possible
methods for increasing private sector involvement; (3) whether existing HUD programs
work in conjunction with each other and how if needed can these programs be improved
to meet the overall purpose of providing better housing opportunities.
On May 30th, the Commission released its report to Congress, Meeting Our Nation's
Housing Challenges. Join us on this very timely and important session. Listen
to what the Commission describes as their vision for the nation's housing. Learn
about the Commission's 13 principal recommendations and how the recommendations
are categorized: new tools, major reforms of existing programs, and streamlining
of existing programs.
Hear why the Commission believes these recommendations are important for the housing
industry. Join in on the stimulating discussion on how the Commission envisions
the recommendations becoming a reality.
