How to Effectively Manage Your CDBG Funding, Program and Staff, Part I, Part II and Part III
Your time is valuable. Use this timesaving training to brush up and learn new effective techniques to manage your CDBG program, funding and staff. This three-session Audio Short Series will explore ways to:

  • Improve your ability to interpret and use the federal regulations,
  • Make your annual planning process more effective
  • Learn to use checks-and-balances oriented teamwork to improve effectiveness and achieve job satisfaction for yourself and your work group.
  • Make sure that "Nobody gets fired." "Nobody goes to prison."

Part I Regulations as Guideposts (Originally Held May 15, 2003)
The first session focuses on improving your ability to interpret the regulations to achieve both flexibility and accountability. You will gain perspective on the importance of taking the opportunity to comment on new proposed regulations. You will learn how to find the gems in the definitions and develop strategies for preparing for that phone call to the HUD Office.

Part II Planning for Success (Originally Held June 12, 2003)
All of HUD's housing and community development programs require public participation in planning for the use of the next years funding. This session will help you learn how to navigate through this planning process so that project implementation will be more satisfying for you and more effective for your staff and your community.

Part III Program Implementation and Staff Development (Originally Held July 17, 2003)
You will learn about developing systems that institutionalize the checks and balances that enable staff to manage the work processes more effectively and efficiently. In addition, you will learn how to establish goals and performance measurements that will meet HUD requirements.
