June 24 Online e-Briefing Session

Successful Wait List Management in HUD’s Asset Management Program
1:30 PM - 3:00 (Eastern Daylight Savings Time)
This special e-Briefing on Wait List Management in HUD’s public housing asset management program is designed to provide a professional roundtable discussion for PHAs of all sizes. This distance learning is geared to Executive Directors, key public housing staff and Commissioners.
NAHRO’s 2008-2009 e-Briefings include sessions on components of public housing asset management: in 2008, wait list management, energy performance contracting, procurement, and maintenance and in 2009, capital improvements, finance, reporting, and other occupancy topics.
The objectives of the wait list management presentation are:
- To define the scope of wait list management: i.e., strategic planning for the function, marketing, tenant selection, application of fair housing and deconcentration mandates, data support and quality control;
- To learn about how PHAs of different sizes have approached wait list management based on asset management principles, the reasons for the approach and the results to date;
- To understand the challenges and barriers several PHAs have had in wait list management implementation and how they have been or are being overcome;
- To understand program changes and refinements needed in the implementation of wait list management; and
- To obtain PHA input and discuss HUD’s role in facilitating a professional wait list management approach in an asset management environment.
The presenters will be Larry Loyd, Executive Director, Housing Commission of Anne Arundel County in Maryland; Anthony DiBiase, Executive Director, Rochester Housing Authority in New York; Jacob Fox, Regional Manager, Portland Housing Authority in Oregon; Shaler Roberts, Executive Director, Florence Housing Authority in Alabama; and Greg Byrne, HUD’s Director of Financial Management. Pat Arnaudo, Director of Special Projects for Professional Development at NAHRO is the moderator
