Ethics Training for NAHRO's NPDS Operations Management Certification

Ethics Training is a requirement for those professionals seeking Operations Management Certification through NAHRO’s Professional Development System (NPDS). At this second level of Certification, the Ethics training program is offered in an e-Learning format, which requires two days for 2 an ½ hours per day. It is also offered in a one-day live training format.

At the Operations Management Certification level, the training is targeted to professionals with supervisory and/or managerial roles and responsibilities. The Operations Management Certification is offered in the work responsibilities of Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, Maintenance, and Inspections.

The Purpose of the Ethics Training for Operations Managers is to highlight and emphasize the supervisory and managerial aspects of creating an ethical work environment from the perspective of being stewards of the public trust.

Objectives:

Identify and review the principles and application of ethical behavior in public service.

Define critical management roles and responsibilities in creating an organization-wide ethical environment.

Promote ethical behavior by all staff.

Provide and discuss formal and informal actions, tools and techniques that promote ethical behavior with agency staff and community stakeholders, such as development of an ethics policy, quality assurance, and elimination of fraud.

Faculty
The course will be taught by Veronica Bukowski, PHM and Richard Stanton. Veronica and Richard have been NAHRO Faculty for over twenty-five years. They designed and continue to present NAHRO's property-centric Public Housing Management training. More recently, they have been developing and training NAHRO programs on transitioning to the Asset Management concept. They have developed budget exercises that have been incorporated in training programs targeted at front-line property managers, and have worked with front line staffs on understanding and using property based budgets.
