AZ - ARIZONA CHAPTER
The Arizona Chapter recently developed a new scholarship program for
Section 8, Public Housing residents.
2 - $250 Scholarships to residents of public housing and Section 8
recipients
*Must currently be housed in the state of Arizona *Priority given
to participants of a Family Self-Sufficiency or Work-Study program
through a local Arizona housing authority.
*Must be enrolled on either a full-time or part-time basis in an accredited
academic, trade, or related school beyond the high school level

CA - HOUSING AUTHORITY OF ALAMEDA COUNTY
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: Up to Ten (10) Scholarships (Not to exceed $15,000)
Up to $ 750.00 Community College Campuses, Licensed Vocational Schools
or Trade Apprenticeship Program
Up to $1,250.00 California State University Campuses
Up to $1,750.00 University of California Campuses or Out of State
Universities
REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant must currently reside in one of the Housing Authority
owned properties or be an active participant in the Family Self-Sufficiency
program.
- Applicant must plan to attend a public or private accredited community
college, university, licensed vocational school or trade apprenticeship
program.
- Applicant must legibly and completely fill out the Housing Authority
scholarship application form. Applicant must arrange for transcript
of grades to be sent to the Housing Authority Scholarship Committee.

CA - HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES (HACLA) SCHOLARSHIP
AWARD PROGRAM
The goal of the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles Scholarship
Award Program is designed to assist and motivate qualified individuals
planning to attend college/university or vocational program, to continue
their education through the provision of financial assistance. The
award should be applied to the students tuition, book expense,
materials, or equipment (i.e. computer, calculator, printer, or software).
The following is an overview of this program.
- Scholarship Categories
- Vocational Program
- Community College or University
- Mandatory Criteria for Eligibility
- Be a resident (a minimum of 6 months) of HACLA developments
- High School Senior, student in vocational program, college
or university full-time (i.e. 12 units)
- Proof of registration/enrollment in vocational program, college,
or university required
- Students must have at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA (supported
by transcripts)
- Special consideration will be given to GPAs of 3.0
or higher
- Submit a maximum one (1) page, double spaced, typed 250 word
essay, recommendation (non-family related) based on applicant
character, academic motivation, and any other information the
recommender believes shows the applicant deserves the scholarship.
- Awards and Budget: A maximum of $25,000 will be awarded. Scholarship
range as follows.
Vocational program: $300.00
Community College: $500.00
University: $750.00.
Note: All applications with letters of recommendations must be completely
filled out and received by the deadline at the HACLA Resident Relations
Department. No consideration will be given to those applications received
after the deadline. All information will be verified prior to awarding
scholarships. If any information is found to be incorrect the applicant
will be disqualified. Applicants only need to apply for the scholarship
once per calendar year. The Scholarship Review Team will review applications
and notify recipients of their scholarship by a set date.
Scholarship awards will be issued directly to the recipient. Scholarship
awards shall be used for tuition, book expenses, materials, and equipment
(i.e. computer, calculator, printer, or software). Proof of enrollment
is necessary in order to receive payment and should be submitted no
later than March 1, 2003.

Exceptional Graduating Residents
NV - CLARK COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY SCHOLARSHIP
5 - $1000 Scholarships to qualified seniors and previous recipients
of the Authority's Scholarship Program
- Graduating H.S. senior must live in Clark County Housing Authority
Development or be a participant in one of its housing prorgrams at
the time of graduation and must have been housed under one of the
Housing Authority programs for at least one year.
- Minimum 2.5 GPA for the high school years
- Must be enrolled on a full-time basis in an accredited academic,
trade, or related school beyond the high school level
