Site Visits

Site visits are meetings with your legislators or their staff that showcase your agency, programs, and residents. You can host in-person or virtual site visits to advocate for national policy priorities and local concerns. When you host a site visit, please report it to the NAHRO team using the link below. Please also find a step-by-step guide to site visits on this page.

Step by Step
Site Visit Guide

locate contact information

If you already have a contact in your legislator's office, you can reach out to them first. Otherwise, you can visit their websites or call them to obtain information for a scheduler. The NAHRO team can also help you locate contact information. Contact Jenna Hampton (jhampton@nahro.org), Legislative Affairs Analyst, for assistance.

reach out to the office

Contact the office with a request for an in-person or virtual site visit. If you contact the Washington DC office, they may redirect you to your legislator's district office. The scheduler may offer you a meeting with a staff member if your legislator is not available to meet.

host site visit

Prepare for your site visit. If you are meeting virtually, you can prepare a presentation with photos of your properties (when applicable). If you are meeting in person, finalize your location and attendee list. Make sure you are communicating clearly with the staff member or legislator attending the visit. Plan ahead of time to take photographs and document the visit.

report visit to nahro

Return to this page to report your site visit to NAHRO. One of our goals for this year's August Advocacy campaign is to complete 50 site visits. Please let us count your visit toward the goal by submitting a report form.
