This session is geared to Board members and Executive Staff of PHAs and will address 4 key areas: 1) financial statements and the audit process to include an overview of the financial statements as well as the auditor’s role. 2) budgeting to include effective ideas for Commissioners to provide oversight during board meetings. 3) fraud, a concern when considering oversight of a PHA, to include the cost benefits of internal control and policies to reduce and minimize fraud. 4) Instrumentalities and Affiliates (aka component units), such as tax credits or RAD and other repositioning related entities.
