An Overview of the Financial Management Training Program

The Financial Management Training Program is a first-of-its-kind educational series designed by housing agency industry professionals to create a qualified talent pool of finance professionals. Developed through a public-private partnership between AprioGans, Gans & Associates and NAHRO, the program will equip financial professionals with the knowledge of housing agency accounting and financial management techniques, tools and data management principles, as well as the standards required to effectively manage HUD financial reporting. The curriculum was developed in partnership with the John Dailey Florida Institute of Government at the University of South Florida.

The Financial Management Training Program consists of a year-long certificate program that includes 32 hours of face-to-face classroom training and six hours of online learning. Delivered through a blended model of classroom sessions and e-learning, this program will provide CEOs, COOs, CFOs, CIOs, Directors of Finance, real estate development staff, human services staff, Controllers and Senior Accountants in the housing agency industry with the necessary training to effectively lead, organize, direct and manage housing agency finance and administrative staff, operations and accounting systems, processes and regulatory compliance.

  • Staff Development: in person, March 31, 2020 (at the NAHRO Washington Conference in Washington, D.C.)
  • Leadership Development: online, April 29, 2020, 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. Eastern
  • Industry Knowledge and Updates: in person, July 2020 (exact date to be determined – between July 23 and July 25 at the NAHRO Summer Conference in New York, N.Y.)
  • Real Estate Deal Structure & Property Operations: in person, October 2020 (exact date to be determined – between Oct. 1 and Oct. 3 at the NAHRO National Conference in Orlando, Fla.)
  • Cyber & IT Security: in person, October 2020 (exact date to be determined – between Oct. 1 and Oct. 3 at the NAHRO National Conference in Orlando, Fla.)
