HCV Essentials is an introductory course designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program. This training equips attendees with the foundational knowledge to effectively administer the program and support its purpose of assisting low-income families. Participants will explore key topics such as the program’s structure, eligibility criteria, waiting list management, and essential calculations.
Attendees will gain practical skills in calculating annual income, applying deductions to determine adjusted income, and understanding how income impacts tenant eligibility and rent determination. The course also covers rent calculation, including determining rent portions, utility allowances, and total tenant payment (TTP). Case studies and real-world examples are included throughout the training to reinforce learning and provide practical application of the concepts covered.
For participants interested in certification, completing this course will prepare them for the exam while ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to demonstrate their proficiency in administering the HCV program. This training is designed to ensure all participants, regardless of their level of experience, gain the skills and confidence needed to manage HCV program requirements effectively.
