NAHRO Professional Development Seminars
NAHRO Professional Development is offering National Conference registrants a special opportunity to attend a professional development offering while also attending the National Conference. These special seminar offerings are only available as part of conference registration, at a discounted add-on fee. The seminars are imbedded in the conference but still allow for attendees to attend plenary sessions, exhibit hall events and most concurrent sessions.

Registration cost per seminar is $330 (in addition to the conference registration fee.) Pre-registration required and space is limited. Attendees can only attend (1) of the offerings as they will take place simultaneously.
Seminar Schedule:
Day 1 – Thursday, October 5: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Day 2 – Friday, October 6: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Join our Commissioner Fundamentals training to create a strong foundation for your work as a housing commissioner. The commissioner’s role is complex and can be daunting at times. We hope you will join us as we explore the roles and responsibilities of housing commissioners. Participants will also discover that the commissioner role is multi-faceted; commissioners are advocates, leaders, team builders and strategists. You’ll also learn the intricacies of board-staff relationships and boundaries, and review the principles and strategies of board governance, as well as some of the oversight functions of the board.

High Performance Management: The Art of Managing People, Process and Policy – as of 8/28/23, this seminar is at full capacity.

This course is targeted to supervisors and managers seeking to enhance their understanding of how they can and will impact the performance of people, systems and policies. During this training, you’ll analyze and learn about your behavior style, communication style and values. You’ll use the information and knowledge you gain to empower, inspire and enhance your team’s performance. Managing and supervising require unique sets of knowledge, skills, and competencies. This High-Performance Management training will provide you with key knowledge and skills to create and maintain high performing and productive teams. You’ll have the opportunity to experiment with critical tools and techniques to effectively manage and supervise your teams.
As part of this training, you will receive a link to complete the TTI DISC assessment (a $65 value). You will complete your assessment and receive your personal DISC assessment report prior to the first day of training. The DISC assessment report provides insight into your personal behavioral style. Learning about your personal style and the styles of those you work with, you can improve communication, increase understanding, and improve overall performance. During this class, we’ll explore your individual DISC style and how it can help you become a High Performance Manager.
This participant centered course is highly interactive using case studies, assessments, and simulations to keep you engaged! You’ll explore your personal behavior style and learn how to leverage it to effectively improve communication, collaboration, and outcomes.

All Supervisors, Managers, Directors, Officers and Executives
Attendance is required for the entirety of the seminar to receive credit for attendance; therefore attendees should not sign-up for the local housing/community development tour nor should they attend any of the other concurrent sessions held during the same time.
