House T-HUD Bill Votes Postponed over Amtrak Cuts

Floor votes on H.R. 4820, the House’s version of the T-HUD bill, have been pushed back twice in the last two weeks over the bill’s proposed $1.5 billion cuts to Amtrak. Republican leadership pulled the bill shortly before it was to be voted on by the full house out of concern for several GOP Members that have expressed their concerns over the cuts which would affect AMTRAK workers and infrastructure in their own districts along the Northeast Corridor (Washington D.C. to Boston.) Several members have expressed that it would be difficult for them to vote for the bill with the AMTRAK cuts in place, while others have raised concerns but have not committed to voting against the measure.

NAHRO will continue to monitor the movement on this issue and the bill as it awaits consideration by the full House of Representatives.
