August Advocacy is NAHRO’s annual, six-week letter writing and advocacy engagement campaign. Every August, Congress takes a recess to return to their communities and connect with their constituents. During this time, your elected officials want to hear from you! This year is unique, as many lawmakers will also begin preparation for the 2026 Midterm Elections that will shape affordable housing and community development funding and programs in both the short and long term.
Save the date — July 28 to September 5 — and get ready to send customizable advocacy letters each week from NAHRO’s Action Alert Center to speak up for affordable housing and community development programs.

In 2024, NAHRO set a goal of 2,500 individual advocates sending 50,000 letters to Congress and the White House. NAHRO Advocates crushed that goal, with over 10,000 individuals sending over 104,000 letters to Washington. We can’t wait to see what you’ll do during this crucial and pivotal time — let’s raise our voices together!
