NAHRO CEO’s Statement on the Moving Forward Act

“This is truly a historic moment. With the passage of H.R. 2, the Moving Forward Act, the House has bravely put forward the largest investment in public housing on record, and has acknowledged the breadth and depth of our nation’s housing needs. NAHRO and its members are especially grateful to Chairwoman Maxine Waters and the bill’s other supporters for including funding both to address the NAHRO-estimated $70 billion in deferred maintenance for these public housing units that almost 2 million people call home — half of whom are children or seniors — and to increase the supply of affordable housing.

“NAHRO, its members, and its allies all over the country have worked for years to help Congress understand the growing need for public housing repairs and for new affordable housing units. This bill is a monumental step in the right direction, and we applaud the courage and foresight of its supporters.”

— Adrianne Todman, NAHRO CEO
