With their first budget, the Trump Administration has signaled what would be a monumental shift in PHA policymaking from the federal government to states. While the viability of this change remains uncertain, we have also seen more state and local government leaders taking housing policy into their own hands. PHAs should have a vital role in any expansion of state-level policymaking focused on rental assistance and housing supply. This panel explores current models of statewide partnerships, collaboration, advocacy, and goal-setting that PHAs are already leading and ways the industry can strengthen its position across the country.
