Call to Action: Tell the House to Remove Section 504 from the ROAD to Housing Act

April 21, 2026 — In March, the Senate passed the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act. While NAHRO is encouraged by Congress’ efforts to tackle the current housing affordability crisis, we remain concerned with certain provisions in the bill, including Section 504. Section 504 jeopardizes the flexibility and creativity that allows Moving to Work (MTW) agencies to best serve their communities. Congress has an opportunity to improve the bill by removing this language.

NAHRO, along with industry partners, sent a statement to the House Financial Services committee regarding the MTW provision. As the House continues to discuss the bill over the coming weeks, now is the time to send a letter asking your representative to consider these concerns before voting on a final package and to remove section 504 from the bill.
