On Sept. 22, 68 public housing and community development agencies received 178 NAHRO Awards of Merit for a wide range of affordable housing and community development programs.

Several of the winners were on hand to answer questions and share insights about their award-winning programs at a special Awards Showcase on Sept. 22, during NAHRO’s National Conference and Exhibition, NAHRO Together: Advancing our Communities in San Diego, Calif.

“NAHRO members continue to set the bar high with their innovation,” NAHRO President Patricia Wells said. “I am proud of their accomplishments and how their work will impact the lives of their clients and communities.”

The NAHRO Awards of Merit program was created to give national recognition to the achievement and innovation of NAHRO members throughout the country; to provide additional opportunities to inform the public of the best in housing and community development; and to create a resource bank of information on significant, innovative activities performed by housing and redevelopment agencies and community development departments.

“I am humbled to have the opportunity to stand among this dedicated group of Housers,” NAHRO CEO Mark Thiele said. “These programs and projects serve as a fantastic example of the work our members do to better lives. Our Awards of Merit highlight local solutions created within our own communities.”

A full list of awardees and descriptions of all the winning programs can be found in NAHRO’s Awards of Merit catalog, available online at www.nahro.org/agency-awards.
