CoC NOFO Applications for FY26 Due September 30

September 21, 2026 — On Friday, September 18, HUD reopened its fiscal year 2026 Continuum of Care Notice of Funding Opportunity (FY26 CoC NOFO) to accept applications with a new deadline of September 30, 2026 at 8:00PM ET. 

This follows the recent U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit order made on September 16 granting HUD the ability to move forward with the FY26 CoC NOFO. The order justifies granting HUD’s motion due to funding gaps that would be created by HUD not being able to implement the NOFO in a timely manner. The court also mentions that HUD is likely to succeed on the merits of its challenge to the district court’s holding that the $1.3 billion set aside for transitional housing in the NOFO was subject to notice and comment requirements.

While pending litigation is still ongoing, applicants must now move quickly to finalize and submit their applications. Applicants can apply here.

Awards for the FY26 CoC NOFO are still expected to be announced by December 1, 2026.
