August Advocacy Week 2: Expand Access to Housing Vouchers
Week 2 of August Advocacy is underway! Start the week by sending an advocacy letter asking your legislators to expand access to Housing Choice Vouchers. Housing vouchers stabilize millions of families across the country, allowing them to rent from private landlords in neighborhoods of their choice.
Housing Choice Vouchers are proven solutions to housing affordability challenges, yet according to the Housing Initiative at Penn, only 1 in 5 households eligible for a voucher received one in 2019. Tell Congress to expand housing voucher access by:
- Making Emergency Housing Vouchers permanent
- Expanding the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program to serve all eligible families
- Shifting funding for the HCV program from annual appropriations to mandatory spending
