The Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies Releases “The State of the Nation’s Housing” 2025 Report

June 27, 2025—On Tuesday, June 24, the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University published its annual State of the Nation’s Housing report for 2025. The report provides an overview of the current U.S. housing market, underlining trends and challenges faced by homeowners and renters.
This year, the report highlights an uncertain housing market. Key issues include high housing costs for both homebuyers and current homeowners, high rental costs as the recent surge in housing construction ends, and the record need for housing assistance across the country.
