Local Housing and Community Development Tour

The Nashville Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) will host an optional bus tour for attendees at the conclusion of the Symposium on Friday, July 17, 2:15pm – 4:45pm.

This optional tour is an add-on to Symposium registration; tickets can be purchased for $45 for members and $55 for non-members. Pre-registration is required; space is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Join MDHA for a bus tour of key initiatives shaping Music City. As both Nashville’s public housing authority and redevelopment arm, MDHA plays a central role in the city’s growth.

The tour will highlight key developments managed by the Agency such as Bridgestone Arena, Music City Center, and the Second Avenue Rebuild. It will also feature redevelopment districts overseen by MDHA including the Gulch, a once-industrial area now transformed into one of Nashville’s most popular mixed-use neighborhoods.

The tour wouldn’t be complete without a look at the Agency’s housing, particularly Cayce Place, where MDHA is transforming the city’s largest subsidized housing communities into a mixed-income neighborhood. As redevelopment occurs in phases, participants will see existing homes built in the 1940’s and 1950’s alongside new construction, with older buildings being demolished over time as the community is rebuilt.

Please be advised that the tour’s return time could extend past the scheduled time due to traffic conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. We recommend being flexible with late afternoon plans (including travel) and avoiding time-sensitive arrangements.
