Overview

  • Provides knowledge about the commissioner’s role and responsibilities and board governance at the agency
  • Teaches candidates about oversight of policies and budgets and the appropriate boundaries of their purview
  • Focuses on how to become a strong advocate for affordable housing in the community
  • Places special emphasis upon professional ethical conduct and how it affects the agency

Certification Requirements

  1. Successful completion of the following education or equivalent:
    • 1.0 NAHRO Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or equivalent of Commissioners’ Fundamentals training
    • 0.5 NAHRO Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or equivalent of Commissioners Ethics training
  2. Completion of Certification Application

Recertification

  • One NAHRO live seminar (at least 5 hours of training) or 0.50 NAHRO Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or equivalent training required every three years from date of certification.
