Overview
- Provides knowledge about the commissioner’s role and responsibilities and board governance at the agency
- Teaches candidates about oversight of policies and budgets and the appropriate boundaries of their purview
- Focuses on how to become a strong advocate for affordable housing in the community
- Places special emphasis upon professional ethical conduct and how it affects the agency
Certification Requirements
- Successful completion of the following education or equivalent:
- 1.0 NAHRO Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or equivalent of Commissioners’ Fundamentals training
- 0.5 NAHRO Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or equivalent of Commissioners Ethics training
- Completion of Certification Application
Recertification
- 0.50 NAHRO Continuing Education Units (CEUs, 5 hours of training) or equivalent training required every three years from date of certification.
